SNT operates an open proxy scanner on open-proxy-scan.snt.utwente.nl
(i.e. 130.89.149.61 or 2001:67c:2564:a120::61).
To fight bots and abuse on the IRC servers operated by SNT (e.g. irc.snt.utwente.nl)
this open proxy scanner will connect to a range of port/protocol combinations to
test the client IP address for common open proxies and/or routers which could be abused.
When a client connects to the IRC server, and after the client specifies their nick, the open proxy scanner will trigger and connect to the client IP. This is also mentioned in the MOTD which is send to all clients on connect.
All IPs that connect to the IRC server are subject to these scans, and no exemptions are granted. We will not stop these scans.
